Billionaire Elon Musk announced the launch of Starlink in Kyrgyzstan. On his X account, the SpaceX founder wrote, "Starlink now in Kyrgyz Republic!"
The official Starlink account also confirmed the launch, noting that the high-speed, low-latency satellite internet service is now available in Kyrgyzstan. The country also appeared in the service's coverage area on the Starlink website.
It was previously reported that Kyrgyzstan officially entered the Starlink coverage area on May 23, 2026. ElCat is the project's technical partner, and the launch is part of a pilot program for the use of satellite systems.
The first social facility in the country to connect to Starlink was a school in the high-mountain village of Enilchek. The official launch took place on May 25 via videoconference with Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev. Five computers were also handed over to the school along with the connection.
Launch preparations accelerated following talks between the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers and SpaceX in Washington on April 14. At that time, the parties announced the completion of the necessary permitting procedures and preparations for the technical launch of the pilot project.
