Turkmenistan and Afghanistan begun construction of new infrastructure facilities

A ceremony took place in Turkmenistan to mark the opening and commencement of construction of new infrastructure projects symbolizing the good-neighborly and brotherly relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The ceremony was attended by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, TDH reports.

Among the significant events of the day were the opening of a 177-meter railway bridge on the Serhetabat-Torghundi steel route and the laying of the foundation for the "Şatlyk-1" gas compressor station in Mary Province.

Construction also began on the Serhetabat-Herat section, an important phase in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project. Additionally, work started on laying the Serhetabat-Herat fiber-optic communication line.

Furthermore, construction began on a warehouse complex at the "dry port" of the Torghundi railway station and the first phase of the Torghundi-Sanabar section of the Torghundi-Herat railway. The events concluded with the commissioning of the "Nur-el-Jahad" power plant in Afghanistan's Herat Province.
