ASHGABAT - The implementation of the international e-TIR system in Turkmenistan is nearing completion. This issue was raised during a coordination working meeting held on May 20 via videoconference, according to the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, as reported by Turkmenportal.com.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the Turkmenistan International Road Carriers Association (THADA), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The meeting addressed technical coordination, international experience, and practical steps for launching the system.

The necessary organizational and technical framework for the launch has already been established. Furthermore, preparations are underway for test runs jointly with customs authorities in Central Asian countries.

E-TIR is a digital version of the international customs transit system, developed under the auspices of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the World Customs Organization (WCO). It enables the electronic processing of customs documents for the transport of goods across countries participating in the TIR Convention.
